Across all social media, everyone is sharing their experiences during quarantine due to COVID-19. We are all facing a very dark time, but there are so many different things that we can do during this time. Instead of worrying about what’s going to happen, I decided to do the things that I say that I never have time to do. For one, since I have nowhere to go, I decided to up my beauty routine without leaving the house. Here are five ways that you can update your beauty routine while in quarantine.
1. Clean your makeup brushes
It may seem like a mundane task, but how often do any of us do this consistently. I know I don’t. The job can seem daunting, but it’s refreshing when all of your makeup brushes are clean. If your home right now and don’t have any brush cleaner you can take antibacterial soap mixed with a little bit of water and get to work. I have even used baby soap in the past. ( Please only use of you have extra lol)
2. Organize and get rid of old makeup
Maybe it’s because of my past Sephora days, but I have a habit of collecting and hoarding old makeup. I know I can’t be the only one that does this lol. I have so much stuff that I barely know what I have, and I end up buying a lot of the same things over and over. Lipsticks should be thrown away after a year, and eye products such as liner and mascara should be tossed after three months. If you have products that are unopened and lightly used, give them away to a friend. I don’t know anyone that wouldn’t want a mildly touched palette.
3. Spend more time on your skincare routine
How often do we all say, “I don’t have enough time to do a mask” or any step in your skincare routine that may take a little extra time when we are trying to rush off to work. Now you have the time, so get to masking hey do a double mask if you want. I love to do a clarifying mask such as the Volition Beauty Silt Gelee mask, followed by Bolden Skincare Glow Hydrating Mask.
4. Do your makeup
I know there is nowhere to go but why not watch some youtube videos and practice doing that cut crease you always wanted to learn or putting on lashes that you usually don’t have the time nor the patience to do. I know I have been playing in shadow these past few days. With working full-time and going to the gym every day, I usually don’t have time but guess who has time now lol. Learn how to perfect your foundation, put on lashes, do your brows; the list is endless.
Watch my IGTV video for a tutorial on how to put on lashes.
5. Take a Virtual Makeup Class
Since quarantine began, I’ve seen so many makeup artists offer makeup classes/ live demos on how to do things such as perfecting your foundation routine or how to do a simple eye makeup look. Also, check out sites like skillshare; they have many classes for free on topics such as makeup or anything you might want to learn.
I hope you all take this time that we have to update your beauty routine. There is no time like the present, so use it wisely.
